Well, all I can say for myself is that it hasn’t been an entire year since I’ve updated this website. That’s something, right?

Right?

Oh, never mind. As always, I’ve been neck deep in deadlines and family stuff, and that shows no sign of abating, so I doubt things will change. No point in making any big pronouncements about how I’m going to update more often. Still, I do want to extend a heartfelt thanks once again to every single one of you kind enough to write to me with your (by and large) lovely and kind comments about EDGE OF MIDNIGHT and ALL ABOUT MEN. I’m delighted that you enjoyed them!

Next on my publishing agenda, and already in production, is my latest Brava, Nick Ward’s story, EXTREME DANGER, which hits the bookshelves January 29, ’08. See cover, cover blurb, and two excerpts, for your interest and delectation.

Then, in May of ‘08, I have the great honor of sharing a Brava anthology of romantic suspense novellas with E.C. Sheedy and Cate Noble. The anthology is entitled BADDEST BAD BOYS, and my novella is entitled “Anytime, Anywhere.” Do any of you remember Robin MacNamara, the hero Mac’s little sister from the novella “Meltdown,” by any chance? Well, she’s back, and comes into her own in this novella. I have cover, cover copy, and the first chapter, for the curious to peruse. That leaves only Danny, the other brother, to write a novella for. Hmm. My plate’s too full to make any promises about him right now, but I won’t forget him, you can be sure of it!

After EDGE OF MIDNIGHT came out, I got a large and gratifying number of letters from readers asking me if I plan to write a book about Tam, and another large pile asking if Kev is alive, and if so, am I going to write his story. I hereby announce that the answer to all three of those questions is “yes.” And thanks for asking!

And now, I hav a confession to make. A couple months ago, I had let my email pile up to unhealthy proportions as a result of a long trip to visit family, and there were dozens of readers asking me Whose Story Is Next. I told them Kev was next, believing at the time that it was true. But I’ve changed my mind! Tam is next! My apologies to anyone who might be disappointed by that news. Tam just elbowed Kev out of the way, with her usual grace and modest tact.

So there it is. That’s what I’m working on right now. I have a working title for Tam’s book, but superstitious me, I dare not share it yet—it’s too soon! Wish me luck, though. I’ll need it, dealing with Tam.

After that, I’m scheduled to put together another collection of sexy suspense novellas, and after that, I’ll write Kev’s story. I do not yet have titles or pub dates for those two works.

And I can tell you right now, I have absolutely no idea yet what on earth Kev’s been doing with himself for the last 15 years, or how he’s going to justify his long silence. I was as surprised as anyone else to discover that the body in that grave was not his.

Likewise, I’m still baffled by Tam’s deep dark secrets, too. That’s why I’m writing her book! I’m tired of wondering.

So there it is, everything I know about the next couple of years of my writing life! Wish me luck, and off I go. I’ll do my absolute best for all those characters, because I’ve come to love them like real people.

I wish a marvelous Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years to all. Happy reading to everyone!

Love,

Shannon McKenna
